PREPARATION FOR THE ENGLISH OPEN
21 Oct 2009

Paul's club, SV Plüderhausen, beat his former club, Julich 3-0 although Paul did not compete as he was out through illness.

The next thing on his itinery in preparation for the English Open on the 28th October was a trip to Italy with his coach Jia Yi Liu and one of his team mates.

What should have been a straight forward trip was met by some complications along the way. Paul set off for Stansted Airport early on Sunday morning for an 11.40 flight, but an hour away from the airport, the tyre burst!

Normally this would not be such a big problem but as his car has no spare tyre (there wasn't a spare due to the manufacturer not fitting one) and as it was 8.00am on a Sunday morning there was no tyre dealers open.

The breakdown truck finally delivered Paul to the tyre fitter where he had to wait until 10.00am for it to open. They fixed the tyre immediately after opening but with the latest check-in being at 11.00am time was against him.

Fortunately the flight was delayed by an hour but because Paul had a bag to check in and he had already checked-in online they couldn't let him fly!

He caught the Monday morning flight and the trip went without a hitch.

Paul is at the training camp until Friday 23rd October and then he is at the EIS before the English Open next week.
